The Question Of The Day: The two bowls filled with bears were placed next to the question of the day board, and the children had multiple opportunities throughout the day to answer the question posed. They were encouraged to pick up the containers, take the bears out and anything else they needed to do to be able to answer it.
Both containers the same size and both filled with plastic bear counters. The green container had small bears and the blue larger ones.
Putting them in a scale was another strategy proposed. We discussed the reason we use scales and realized the scale verified which were heavier, not necessarily which had more.
As we continued our discussion, a child came up with a strategy which would help us determine which had more. He stated that we needed to line them up next to each other and count them. Once we lined them up, we counted them and came up with the correct answer.
